Audie Murphy plays himself in the 1955 film classic “To Hell and Back”

The most recognizable icon of my beloved 3rd Infantry Division, Audie Murphy, is discussed in the best newspaper in the region, the Philadelphia Bulletin:

On Jan. 26, 1945 near the village of Holtzwihr, France Lt. Murphy demonstrated bravery worthy of the Medal of Honor. On this date, six Panzer tanks and 250 infantrymen attacked Murphy’s platoon.

During the attack, Lt. Murphy ordered his men to fall back to better defensive positions while he climbed on top of an abandoned burning tank and annihilated the Germans with machine gun fire.

The government is testing drugs with severe side effects like psychosis and suicidal behavior on hundreds of military veterans, using small cash payments to attract patients into medical experiments that often target distressed soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan, a Washington Times/ABC News investigation has found.

Reads to me like a rally cry for freedom, and for the Constitutional guarantees that fewer and fewer seem ready to defend, to the very end. To defend until those very freedoms, liberties, guarantees, God-granted rights are pried from our cold, dead fingers by oppressive Socialistic governments.

Who is there left to take the place of men like this one? Who is there left to seize the banner before it is trampled into the dirt and to carry it forward, a beacon to rally free men and light their way into a future filled with hope?

Charlton Heston possessed the strength of character to stand up against the sea tide of opposition to his political views in Hollyweird and to use his celebrity as a bludgeon against the forces that would strip you of your constitutionally guaranteed freedoms. There is no one to take his place, there is no one like him, and this nation is weaker and a little darker for his loss.

This 100 year old idiot decided to celebrate his centennial at Hooters.  Ernest Loambottom, who has outlived all his kids, grandkids and friends, never made it out of his birthday party alive. During an interview, where the interviewer asked the astoundingly original question “to what do you owe your longevity,” Loambottom started in on a spittle-laden political tirade about how “That Bush has roooned the country.”

One of the Hooters girls, bless her bosom, was a True American and took offense. She retaliated by flashing the bitter old fuck, and he up and died. Go figure.

Serves him right for wasting good oxygen for too many years.
